MUSEVENI SWEARS IN NEW PRINCIPAL JUDGE, DPP, AND IGG

On April 23th 2025, Justice Flavian Zeija was elevated to Deputy Chief Justice, vacating the position of Principal Judge.

On August 30, 2025, President Museveni appointed Justice Jane Frances Abodo, who was previously the DPP, as the new Principal Judge.

Late September/October 2025, Justice Aisha Naluzze Batala was appointed as the new Inspector General of Government (IGG).

On October 28, 2025 Mr Lino Anguzu was appointed as the new Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), replacing Justice Abodo.

On November 9, 2025, President Museveni presided over the swearing-in of the new judicial leaders at Mbale State Lodge.

Hon. Lady Justice Jane Frances Abodo became the first-ever female Principal Judge under the 1995 Constitution.

Mr Lino Anguzu, was appointed to replace Justice Abodo. He was previously an Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions.

Ms Anne Twinomugisha Muhairwe and Ms Patricia Achan were also sworn in at the same ceremony as Deputy Inspectors General of Government (Deputy IGGs) in Uganda.

The officials took the oath of office on Sunday, November 9, 2025. The swearing-in marked the official assumption of their constitutional duties. President Museveni congratulated the appointees, noting their youth and integrity, and urged them to uphold a justice system that aligns with Ugandan values.
