MUSEVENI APPOINTS JUSTICE MOSES KAZIBWE KAWUMI AS NEW DEPUTY CHIEF JUSTICE

President Yoweri Museveni has appointed Justice Moses Kazibwe Deputy Chief Justice. He has been a Justice of the Court of Appeal and Constitutional Court, and is appointed to a vacancy left by Justice Flavian Zeija when the latter was appointed Chief Justice at the beginning of this year 2026 on retirement of the former Chief Justice, Alfonse Owiny-Dollo.

The news was contained in a Presidential Press Unit communication that stated thus:

“The Presidential Press Unit would like to inform the general public that His Excellency the President of the Republic of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has appointed Justice Moses Kazibwe Kawumi as the new Deputy Chief Justice.”

The President also appointed Ms Agnes Alum the new Chief Registrar. This office also fell vacant when Ms Sarah Langa Siu was appointed a High Court Judge in 2025.
